The Gommino

Craftsmanship, Italian lifestyle, and unique design meet to give life to the quintessential Tod’s footwear: the Gommino. Long synonymous with elegance and Made in Italy tradition, the Gommino was born in the late seventies to blend Italian style classicism with the functionality of versatile footwear, suitable for any occasion. The most important aspect is its exceptional manufacturing process: Tod’s artisans meticulously craft this contemporary icon characterised by its deconstructed shape and unmistakable sole with 133 rubber pebbles, the "gommini" behind the unmistakable name Gommino.
The creation process of the Gommino involves over a hundred phases of manual assembly, but it's the tubular construction that sets it apart. The sole and sides of the shoe are made from a single piece of leather, creating an extremely soft structure that, once worn, moulds to the foot like a glove. Since its design, the Gommino has garnered admirers worldwide, symbolising Made in Italy's handmade tradition and embodying Tod’s unmistakable refinement of timeless elegance to this day.
Year after year, the classic Gommino has been reinterpreted with a strong focus on detail and continuous exploration of innovative materials and crafting techniques. In addition to the most iconic model, the Gommino collection comprises the City Gommino, a more urban version with a thick and sturdy rubber sole, and the Gommino Bubble, presented in the Spring-Summer 2023 collection and characterised by the maxi size of the gommini on the sole and heel, available in contrasting or ton-sur-tone shades.
With the new chapter of "The Art of Craftsmanship. A Project by Venetian Masters," born to unite Tod’s artisanal tradition with the creativity of Venetian master craftsmen, Tod's pays homage to the brand's iconic symbol, the Gommino, reinterpreted with the most representative colours of the Venetian lagoon.
